Derive Engineers is proud to collaborate with TANKHOUSE and MacArthur Holdings on the 450 Union project, a bold residential addition to the evolving Gowanus waterfront. The project’s distinctive rotated unit layout required innovative mechanical, plumbing and electrical system solutions. Derive designed three centralized VRF systems for individualized climate control, seamlessly integrated with the building’s unique setbacks. Fresh air is delivered through a dedicated outdoor air system, with lower-level units receiving ventilation via high-efficiency ERVs. Close coordination with the design team ensured plumbing and electrical risers supported 52 unique unit types and extensive amenity spaces.
